How often should I pump in central Indiana?

Purdue Extension (HENV-107-W) generally points to cleaning every three to five years. Measured sludge and scum depth is the real trigger. Disposals, large households, and clay or till fields shorten the safe interval.

Do I need a permit to pump?

Routine pumping is maintenance. New systems, replacements, and many Marion County repairs need a health department permit under 410 IAC and Chapter 14.

Why is the yard wet only after rain?

Till and clay hold water. Storm runoff on a near-capacity field pushes effluent up. Keep roof water off the absorption area.

Is sewer coming to my street?

Can frozen ground cause a backup?
